Daryl Cook!

Productivity Show podcast

November 20, 2007

Hello to those readers who’ve arrived here via the Productivity Show. It’s been a while since I blogged here. I occasionally blog over at Anecdote, which is where I’m working.

I’ve been wondering for a while what to do with this blog and I haven’t completely resolved that yet. I had a thought that I might try and separate work and personal, but I came to the conclusion that this is a tenuous division at best — we take ourselves everywhere we go. If you have any thoughts about this, I’d love to hear them.

So, with that said: enjoy the archives, but expect light blogging here. Thanks for coming.

    Hey Rizzla!

Welcome back to the blogosphere! I think you are too concerned about making the blog ‘meaningful’ or highly topical. You have lots of great ideas and links, and I think you should just post everything: About work, about your kids, about it all. It is of course darylcook.com, so you may as well just brain dump yourself, and the rest will follow.

On the topic, since you have lots of broad ideas & topics to think about, or because you’re torn about a direction, maybe you should think about moving away from a linear blog? I mean, I too have thought about how restrictive a blog can be, and it seems date based linear posting is way too narrow a medium. Maybe to encompass everything, you could move to some kind of Wiki, which represents a mind map (and I know you love mind maps!) - An interlinked database of Daryl. Hey, maybe that can be the site title ;) - It couldn’t just be a Wiki though, but a mixed media melting pot, where you throw topics, dates, categories out the window. Maybe there is something out there already which encompasses that functionality, I don’t know…? Anyway, I’m just thinking out loud…

Good luck, and I’ll put you back in my RSS reader! :)
