C’mon Aussie

November 13, 2005

OK, so I’ve been suckered in! I got up at 6:30 am on a Sunday morning to watch the football (Aust. v Uraguay). There’s been a lot of hype and I generally don’t buy into the Australian world cup hard luck story. If Australia is going to make it to the world cup finals it has to be able to compete with the likes of Uraguay … there’s no easy rides into the cup and if they end up going through then they will deserve to be there. I thought they played well for most of the game today, although they were a bit loose late in the game, but managed to survive the seige. It was certainly one of the better matches I’ve seen Australia play. A 1-0 result in Montadiveo is a good result. Even Brazil has never won a game there! It’s still a big ask on Wednesday night and all the players are going to have to be on top of their game. Perhaps a haircut will improve Harry Kewell’s game? (although he had a fair game today). C’mon Aussies let’s get the hoodoo over with and put Australian football on the world stage.
