A New Arrival

July 27, 2005

I’ve bitten the bullet and I’m finally upgrading my computer. I’ve been running an iMac - Indigo (57-19-00) since the Summer of 2000, which features:

  • Indigo color
  • 350MhZ/64MB/7GB/CD/56k

  • I upgraded the RAM and installed OSX a couple of years back and that’s managed to keep things humming along for a while.

Now that I’ll have to hand back my work laptop, I desperately need storage. I’ve got more data on my iPod than I am able to store on the iMac (allowing for the OS)!

So, I just put down my hard-earned for an Aluminum PowerBook G4 15″ 1.5 GHz.

Having a budget of $3k, I’d toyed with the idea of getting a 12″ with 100GB hard drive, but the screen size is just too small for me. I already wear glasses — no point doing further damage! So, I’ve gone with a run-out model, a brand newApril, 2004, 15″ AlBook. It’s clocked at 1.5 GHz and includes 512 MB of RAM and an 80 GB hard drive and a SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW).

The older model is a bit of a compromise, but I can’t wait to pick it up and start using it!
